Angela Day 1

I picked Angela up at Narita Airport and off we were to explore Tokyo. Some places I had been to before and some were new. One of the new locations was Tsukiji. Tsukiji is an area of Tokyo near that east coast. Tsukiji is famous for having one of the largest and busiest fish markets in the world. We had high hopes for random and cool looking specimens of the sea, and Tsukiji did not disappoint. The day we visited the fish market, it was nasty out. Rainy, cold, and windy. The weather and the 6am time only added to the authenticity of this place. For many reasons, I am confident that these fish were fresh, but mostly, it is because many were still moving as I walked by.

Also on Ang's first day here we went to Ueno. This was the beautiful park I visited before. There are temples and shrines and the Japanese museum is here. The weather, that lended itself so well to the fish market, added no authenticity to Ueno, and instead made it a day to be in the museum rather than walking around the park. Also disconcerting (at the time at least) is that after what seemed like hours of walking around the fish market, we still got to the museum before it opened for the day.
