More sightseeing with Joe

One of the exciting things about Tokyo is the number of people who inhabit the city. A great spot to see the ebb and flow of humanity is the major street crossing in Shibuya. Joe had the brilliant idea of me taking a picture of him walking across the crossing. It was such a good idea, in fact, that I asked him to do the same for me. While this idea was creative to me, it was apparently not unique, as some “traditional” Americans had the same idea and got into the picture behind me. Luckily they went away and I got some more pics sans the occidentals.

Joe and I walked to Shibuya from Harajuku, a short walk of about 15 minutes. After Shibuya we wanted to see Shinjuku (which is to the north) and we decided to walk. This walk, turned out to take a couple hours, but we saw amazing things on the way. Probably the highlight of this walk, was a trip through Yoyogi Park. The park was gorgeous and full of life. People playing ultimate Frisbee, having picnics, walking their dogs, and taking pictures of the cherry blossoms that just began to bloom (pics in 2 posts ago)

The next day, after I had a couple classes, Joe and I went to Roppongi (ex-pat haven) for the birthday of Ami, who is one of the students in my program. I took this opportunity to show introduce Joe to Roppongi and some of my friends. Our group gathered at a bar called Muse. It’s a very laid back bar, with some pool table and darts. The place was dead, but the bar area is small and there were about 20 of us, so we basically had our own private area. Also at some point Joe and I went to the tapas restaurant Domo Domo. Joe, like me, is not very adventurous when it comes to food, so we stuck to what we knew, and it was delicious.
